About Trijntje Oosterhuis

At age 17, Amsterdam-born jazz-pop vocalist Trijntje Oosterhuis (aka Traincha) formed Total Touch with her brother Tjeerd. Two years after their 1996 self-titled debut, follow-up album This Way hit number one on the Dutch charts, but Total Touch split as the siblings developed different career paths and Trijntje's 1999 solo debut, For Once in My Life, went gold. Her 2003 self-titled follow-up established Oosterhuis as the Netherlands' premier jazz diva. Signed to Blue Note in 2004, Oosterhuis continued to distance herself from the pop world with Strange Fruit, including repertoire from George Gershwin and Billie Holiday. See You as I Do (2005) and The Look of Love (2006) continued to distinguish Oosterhuis as one of the finest European vocal jazz talents of her generation. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez
