At his best, Cam’ron sounds like he’s in a wrestling match with an old R&B song: fragments of some vintage crooning collide with couplets about the drug life, and all the parts of a song somehow bash and chop themselves into a hypnotically furious rhythm. Such is the case with “Snapped” and “3rd Floor Flow,” two of Cam’s best recent songs. However, the standouts of 1st of the Month Vol. 4 are “Baby Ain’t Mine” and “F*ckin’ Hater,” a two-part R&B workout that finds Cam providing his own hilariously twisted take on Drake's chic rap-crooning.
