Songs from the Laundromat - EP

Kevn Kinney wants to get his music out into the world quickly. He sees no reason to use the album format in the digital world and has announced his intention to release four EPs over the course of a year with his long-running band Drivin' N' Cryin'. Songs from the Laundromat is the first EP in the series, and it reminds the faithful that rock 'n' roll isn't dead. "REM" approximates the autumnal jangle of, well, R.E.M., while "Baloney" is 32 seconds of punk rock that recalls the flash and fury of The Circle Jerks and Descendents. "Clean Up" is classic Drivin' N' Cryin', a tale of broken hearts in a cold, uncaring world, swinging along until the guitars raise the ghosts of Southern rock. More aggressive are "Dirty," a shuffling blues rocker that's juke-joint ready, and "Ain't Waitin' on Tomorrow," which grinds out a tough, dirty lick worthy of ZZ Top.
