The California beatmaker’s trademark sounds—hard-hitting drums, chirpy vocal loops, and scratchy samples—are given space to shine on the vintage East Coast-style triumph of “Full Metal,” while skewered guitars and piano tinkles punctuate “Double 07.” The bleak electronics underpinning “Scottie Pippen,” meanwhile, sound like they’ve been stolen from an ‘80s slasher flick.
