The Interpreter, Volume 2

The Interpreter, Volume 2

Though it bears the name of the psychedelic band Roky Erickson fronted in the ’60s, this album is actually a vivid document of a later time in his career. Recorded at the Whisky a Go Go in 1981 by Erickson and his band the Aliens, songs like the snarling “Stand for the Fire Demon” and the menacing “Don’t Shake Me Lucifer” are sterling examples of the punk-styled, horror-movie-influenced brand of garage rock that signaled Erickson’s thrilling creative rebirth.
