About Sailor
Sailor were formed in the early-70s by singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist Georg Kajanus aka Georg Hultgreen, a Norwegian prince. Sailor’s sound was augmented by the remarkable nickelodeon, a self-designed contraption featuring two upright pianos, two synthesizers, mini-organs and glockenspiels, all mechanically linked and contained within a wooden frame. Tours with Kiki Dee and Cockney Rebel helped boost their profile, and Sailor reached number 2 in the UK charts with the sparkling ‘A Glass Of Champagne’. They had two more hits with ‘Girls Girls Girls’ and ‘One Drink Too Many’ before the onset of punk overwhelmed them, but they continued recording ang gigging until 1980. The original line-up of Sailor re-formed in 1990, releasing their first album in 13 years and varying line-ups continued to tour into the 00s.
