DJ/producer/singer Eliza Rose took time out on a trip to Jamaica to record her Apple Music Home Session at Mazion Studios in Montego Bay, serving up new versions of her own “Better Love” and Moloko’s dance-floor classic “Sing It Back.” And on “Better Love,” the influence of her surroundings is immediately audible in the warm groove. “We’ve put a gorgeous little reggae spin on it,” she tells Apple Music. “We had two live musicians come in and play bass and guitar. I just wanted to put a little bit of my heritage and my roots in this version, seeing as I was in Jamaica. I love reggae and it’s been a big influence for me. I wanted to reflect that in this Home Session recording.” However, when it came to reinventing the Moloko track, Rose dug into sonic ideas from a little closer to her East London birthplace. “We’ve done a little UK garage spin on the instrumental to switch it up a bit and give it that Eliza Rose stylee,” she says. “It’s a fabulous song and it’s been a longtime inspiration for me. I love Róisín Murphy, she’s a fantastic musician and performer. I love a good vocal house track, and I think this one just hits the nail on the head for a timeless banger.”
