“This time has made me far more introspective,” James Arthur tells Apple Music on living through the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s also made me fall back in love with some styles of music that were old loves and I’d perhaps left behind a little bit. I’m grateful for that.” The UK singer-songwriter has used his Apple Music Home Session to re-engage with one particular favourite: George Michael’s iconic 1984 single “Careless Whisper”. “It’s a song I covered on tour around the time that George sadly passed away,” he says. “I grew up listening to his music as my mum was something of a superfan. This felt like the perfect opportunity to finally record it. I’ve also gone for ‘Faded’ as the fan favourite and I thought this was a great chance to present ‘September’ in a different, more emotional way.”
