Itunes Live: London Festival '10 - EP

This five-song EP proves that Europe have only become stronger in old age. Recorded more than 30 years after their debut, “Last Look at Eden,” “No Stone Unturned,” and “New Love in Town” portray a band still in their prime. Backed by string arrangements, the group’s swirling hard rock sometimes echoes the mystical power of Led Zeppelin circa “Kashmir.” The original recording of “Rock the Night” was more than 20 years old on the occasion of this performance, but the band play it as though it had been written the night before. Loose and loud, the feeling is far more organic than the original. The set closes with “The Beast,” which sounds like a cross between The Black Crowes and Velvet Revolver. They brought the house down, and they didn’t even have to play “The Final Countdown.”
