TypeIt4Me 4+

Used for years, great app, still some crash

I've used TypeIt4Me for years and it's a great program. I love that it can do fairly complex expansions and I really love that it isn't on a stupid subscription model like its competition. But I recently installed it on an M1 pro Mac 14" Silicon and unfortunately it crashes fairly frequently. It's not that big a deal, but I hope they get it figured out (although maybe it's me, not them).

Snippets only work in the set that is active

I don't like having to have a set active in order for a snippet to work, or to even be able to search for a snippet.

How is it a time saver if you have to take 30 sec to go to the right set to make one expansion, then go to another set to make another expansion?

Also, it will not let me change the name of a set.

I thought a set was like the folders in TextExpander. Sure a snippet was in a particular folder, but you could type the abbreviation regardless of whether you had selected the folder or not.

I recommend putting all your snippets in one set and just keeping that set active.

There should at least be an "ALL" set that you can select, so that all snippets will work if "ALL" is active. Then if sometimes you only want some snippets to be available, then click on a particular set.

Also, Typeit4me doesn't come to the top of open applications when I open it as do other applications so I just have it on a separate "desktop" in MacBook that I can toggle between by holding down control and < or >

I do like the print feature for viewing all of your snippets. You can paste them into a word document and look at them. I'm glad this is not on a subscription model, and the epansion of snippets does work very well.

Flexible, reliable, brilliant

I have been using TypeIt4Me for years, for a variety of uses: Zoom links, long boilerplate text, expressions which though short always seem to take too long to type (e.g., HIV/AIDS), and to ensure that I always use the same version of a word which has multiple acceptable spellings (e.g., reinfection and re-infection).
It has saved me lots of time and was especially useful when I had carpal tunnel flare ups.
