About Mashd N Kutcher

With an alias riffing on a Hollywood A-lister who’s known for his self-deprecating charm, Australian dance duo Mashd N Kutcher could never be accused of taking themselves too seriously. The Brisbane twosome came together in the early 2010s, when metal drummer Matt Minor met classical pianist Adam Morris, and the two bonded over their fondness for heavy bass, hype beats, and a healthy dose of mischief. Over the years, they’ve developed a rep for pranking their fans—by, say, swapping Spandau Ballet’s “True” in place of a concussive EDM drop—and their own productions are similarly lighthearted. Their 2014 debut single, “Do It Now,” channeled the big-room oomph of the style known as Melbourne bounce into an infectious party-starter; 2019’s “Fiesta!” flips mariachi horns into full-on EDM. Still more gonzo is 2020’s “Get on the Beers,” which reworks a sample of Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews’ press conference comments into an unlikely drinking anthem.
