About Keri Leigh & The Blue Devils

b. 21 April 1969, Birmingham, Alabama, USA. Living in Oklahoma during her teens, Leigh developed numerous musical skills but her singing plans foundered when she developed nodes on her vocal cords. She persisted with her music in other ways, emerging as a talented multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Among the instruments she plays are guitar, harmonica, bass and drums. She also began working as a journalist. She eventually tried singing again and joined various bands including the Brownston Blues Band and the Headhunters. In the early 90s, Leigh made her home in Texas with her slide guitarist husband Mark Lyon. Forming her own band, which she named the Blue Devils, she became very popular in the southeastern states. Through extensive touring, she had expanded her following throughout the USA and her albums continued to sell well. In addition to her performing career, Leigh maintained her work as a journalist and is the author of a biography of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Her songs are well written and sit comfortably alongside the traditional country blues and rock-influenced contemporary blues that also have a place in her interesting repertoire. Through into the early 00s, Leigh continued to impress blues audiences. Her singing voice is hard edged and she delivers her material with verve and passion.
