The Sons of the Pioneers, Cool Water (Bonus Track Version) The Sons of the Pioneers, Red River Valley The Sons of the Pioneers, Sons of the Pioneers "Sons of the Pioneers" presents early radio recordings that "launched" the Sons of the Pioneers. "Cool Water" (1960), with its orchestral arrangements, is our best-selling record. "Red River Valley" (2022) honors those original, iconic harmonies. Tell us why you chose this song. “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” This beloved Grammy-honored classic, written by founding member Bob Nolan, is one of the two most important, defining songs in western music. ("Cool Water," also written by Nolan, is the other.) It is still widely used on movie and TV soundtracks. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? We're humbled to have our star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and to have been feted by the Country, Grammy, and Western Music halls of fame, but being named "national treasures" by the Smithsonian Institution (1979) might be the best honor of all. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? In 2024, we'll be celebrating our 90th year of continuous entertainment, making us one of the longest-lived groups in all of American music history. But we're feeling young and energetic and have our eyes on the century mark in 2034!
