Feel Infinite

House music revisionists tend to revere the style’s warmest elements. But Montreal producer Jacques Greene doesn’t take that rosy approach on his debut LP. On “Falls,” he breaks down a sultry female vocal into something less delicate, like a texture for building an independent rhythm. And while the thrumming bassline that drives “To Say” definitely has a vintage vibe, it swerves and bobs playfully enough to never feel too nostalgic. The winner here, though, is “True,” where How to Dress Well’s Tom Krell sounds like he’s gleefully ad-libbing over a warped R&B track.
