About Stadio

Stadio remained one of the premier bands in Italian pop for more than a quarter-century. Enduring members Gaetano Curreri (vocals) and Giovanni Pezzoli (drums) co-founded the group in 1979; their self-titled debut LP followed in 1982. Two years later, Stadio earned their first real mainstream attention with "Allo Stadio," a popular and critical favorite at the annual San Remo Festival, and they scored their signature hit, "Chiedi Chi Erano i Beatles." A move to EMI preceded the 1991 smash Siamo Tutti Elefanti Inventati. Stadio made a triumphant return to the San Remo Festival in 1999 with "Lo Zaino," then resurfaced in 2002 with the acclaimed Occhi Negli Occhi, which launched the hit "Sorprendimi." Celebrated returns to San Remo followed in 2007, 2012, and 2015. In 2016, they won the festival's Big Artists section for their performance of "Un Giorno Mi Dirai" during the promotion of their 15th album, Miss Nostalgia
