The soundtrack to the Telugu rom-com Geetha Govindam finds Malayalam composer Gopi Sundar and Tamil star Sid Sriram making tunes that are in neither’s primary language. It is a study in South Indian musicians finding unity in linguistic diversity. Together they bring spacious beats to “Yenti Yenti”, and get traditional on “Vachindamma”, while the groovy “Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavaale” is an undeniable foot-tapper. Meanwhile, actor Vijay Deverakonda sings in English and Telugu over the street procession-inspired rhythm of “What the Life”. Brilliant.
