Great for hardcore or casual gaming fans
Ian Hardingham and Mr. Paul Kilduff-Taylor are wonderful and this show is excellent, whether you are hardcore or casual gaming fan. The basic format usually goes through major news in the industry, a discussion of individual games/thought pieces/other interesting topics, and interaction with listener questions. It's my favorite way as a former hardcore currently casual gamer to keep up with the industry and culture.
Every episode makes me laugh because Ian and Paul are hilarious and have the kind of banter you only get after being friends forever.
Every episode makes me think about gaming and culture in a new way because these guys merge the experience of talented and successful creators (of Frozen Synapse/Cortex fame) in the industry with the insight of thoughtful critics (games, TV, Magic the Gathering, etc.).
Every episode leaves me in a happy mood because Ian and Paul are good natured and positive people who don't waste time on snark (unless it's playful) or on taking shots against people when a more nuanced understanding is possible.
I can't recommend the podcast enough. Thanks guys and I hope you never stop.
Thoughtful and no banter!
Wow, these two guys manage to have really thoughtful and knowledgable discussions about game design and the game industry without rambling or going off into self indulgent tangents and inside jokes! Also frozen synapse. And cheeky British accents.
