Awesome, Unexpectedly In-Depth Discussions with Disco Stars
Love this book! Some 40 stars (not just singers - producers and songwriters, too) who had big hits during the classic disco era open up about their lives and careers. Everyone from Alfa Anderson of Chic (“Good Times”) to the wild Denis Lepage of Lime (“Babe We’re Gonna Love Tonite”). We get some insights into their experiences and personalities I don’t think we ever would have gotten otherwise - as this genre doesn’t often get serious attention elsewhere. Once you connect the songs with the sometimes less familiar name, it becomes an intriguing, well-thought out read. Author James Arena has another book out on disco artists and one on 80s dance music from Europe. I definitely recommend this book for a start.
