So many emotions

I've always been fond of the best friends little sister or older brother's best friend (only difference is the perspective) and this one does not fail. Jewel's older brother was Nate's best friend until he was killed in action. Everyone knows that Jewel and Nate love each other, but neither is willing to act on it. Now, two years later, they still won't act on it, but for different reasons.
Nate is harboring guilt. Survivor's guilt and the fact that he was the commanding officer that sent his best friend on his final mission that cost him his life. What will Jewel think of him when he tells her that he was the one who sent her brother to his death?
Jewel is so afraid of losing people she loves, she refuses to love anyone other than her family. First she lost her father. Then her brother. She guards herself and her siblings from anything that could potentially harm them. Unfortunately, her siblings are starting to resent her for it. She has built up walls so she can't be hurt again by loss. Will Nate be able to break down those walls and open her up to love?
As always, BJ Harrison does a great job of portraying another Braden. But I really enjoyed his heartfelt portrayal of Jewel. The walls, the fear, the anger. So many emotions in this
