動盪時代下的顛沛流離與愛恨離愁，細膩刻畫悲歡歲月的不朽樂章。改編自 Margaret Mitchell 暢銷名著《飄》，好萊塢經典鉅作《亂世佳人》以美國南北戰爭時期的亂世時代為舞台，刻畫了一段蕩氣迴腸的愛情經典，其電影原聲專輯無疑也是好萊塢配樂創作的巔峰。在那個電影配樂僅僅局限於主題曲、結尾曲與簡短插曲的時代，出生於音樂世家的 Max Steiner 卻堅信音樂能與鏡頭一同渲染情緒、突出角色乃至整個劇情，他的大膽想法讓他獲得了「電影音樂教父」的美譽。配樂共發展出 11 個主題，多達 99 段音樂，為配合故事所處的時空背景，其中不少音樂參考了「美國民謠之父」Stephen Foster 採集的南方民謠。將近四個小時的電影裡， Max Steiner 為每個場景與角色設計精緻貼切的配樂，無論是描繪廣袤壯闊的塔拉莊園的〈Tara〉，還是刻畫男主角內心愛恨交織的〈Belle Watling〉，透過這些配樂，我們能夠更貼近每個角色與場景的內在世界，身歷其境地體會大時代變動下的愛恨離愁。
