About Paulo FG y su Élite

Latin dance artist Paulito F.G. (real name -- Pablo Fernández Gallo) got his start by singing with such acclaimed salsa artists as with Adalberto Alvarez y su Son and with Dan Den, and by 1992, formed his own group, Suy Elite. By mixing the popular music of his homeland with such other styles as funk and rap, Paulito gained a substantial following in Japan and Europe (specifically Spain, the Canarie Islands, Finland, and France), but he remains best known in Cuba, where in 1995 his single "Que vas a Decir Ahora" topped the charts for a staggering nine weeks. This resulted in a recording contract in the U.S. with Universal Latino shortly thereafter, and the release of a pair of albums stateside in 1997 -- Sofocándote and Bueno Soy Yo. ~ Greg Prato
