About Nick Berry

b. 16 April 1963, Woodford Green, Essex, England. Berry attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School in north London. Minor appearances in movies, television and West End plays led to a leading role in the BBC 1 soap opera EastEnders as Simon ‘Wicksy’ Wicks, a youth with aspirations to become a musical entertainer. Fiction became truth when ‘Every Loser Wins’, a song Simon Wicks sang in one episode, was issued as a single. Co-written by Simon May and produced by Mike Batt, it reached the top of the UK charts in 1986, necessitating a hastily recorded Berry album and a round of personal appearances in discos and nightclubs. Nevertheless, his duty as a pop star done, he returned to full-time acting. His voice was later heard on the Buddy Holly title theme of the popular 90s television series, HeartBeat, in which he played police constable Nick Rowan, and once again Berry returned to the UK charts.
