Love To Peace Ha Kimi No Naka

Love To Peace Ha Kimi No Naka

Love To Peace Ha Kimi No Naka is Official Hige Dandizumu’s first mini album since they formed in the early 2010s. Pianos bounce with joy across pop-rock tracks inspired by Motown R&B and soul, while the peppy rhythms reflect the overall on-cloud-nine mood of frontman Satoshi Fujihara. He sings breathlessly about waking up to a new day (“Yuki Seku Asa Ga Kuru”) and hearing the voice of someone he loves (“Sweet Tweet”). On “Koi No Mae Narae,” the chorus finds him hardly able to hide his excitement at getting to meet up with his significant other, while the rhymes in the verses skip in sync with his giddy steps. Fujihara’s detailed lyrics on Love To Peace contain glimpses of the style behind his later breakout songs, particularly his ability to endlessly pursue a given topic. He dedicates entire verses of “Yuugure Zoi” to fragments of bittersweet memories that amount to mere seconds. Meanwhile, his sincere vocals make it easy to overlook the wordiness as he delivers his internal monologues with wide-eyed enthusiasm. He sounds so enamored of his subjects, it’s not hard to lend an ear. The vibrant colors of the music behind Love To Peace Ha Kimi No Naka may make it tough to call this debut a humble beginning, but HigeDan’s members sound more modest here than on their later big swings. They eagerly match the volume of their guitars to the loudness of their fluttering emotions, as they do on the rock ’n’ roller “Yuki Seku Asa Ga Kuru,” and yet the music plays out casually, fitting in scale with the suburban details unfolding in the songs. HigeDan is enjoying the scene; the dramatic climax will come later.
