About Raphael Gualazzi

Born in Urbino in 1981, singer/pianist Raphael Gualazzi is one of Italy's most accomplished jazz-blues musicians, although he is best known for re-introducing his country to the Eurovision Song Contest stage. His debut album, Love Outside the Window, arrived in 2005, but he gained wider recognition when his 2009 cover version of Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop" was used in a TV ad campaign for energy company ENI. Competing in the 2011 Sanremo Festival, Gualazzi won the Giovani (New Generation) award and was chosen to represent Italy at Eurovision with his self-penned bilingual song "Follia d'Amore." Italy's first entry since 1997, "Follia d'Amore" finished second behind Azerbaijan with an impressive 189 points, and became the breakout single for his sophomore effort, Reality and Fantasy. ~ Jon O'Brien
