"What might at first seem like a straightforward 2D puzzle-platformer is in fact a clever throwback to classic point-and-click adventures of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s."
(4 stars) - MacLife

"It is a very enjoyable brain teaser that attempts to push the boundaries of the genre in its own, mysterious way." (4 stars) - OneClickMac

Very enjoyable!

The Cave includes unique stories of seemingly unrelated characters that allows for differentiating combinations of characters to solve meaningful puzzles. Each character comes with a story that has a valuable lesson behind them, and the puzzles are not very difficult, but they are just enough to be somewhat challenging. They have similar mechanics to one another, but the layouts and settings of them are different, making them exciting to explore. The order inwhich you solve the puzzles follow the story lines, allowing them to be understood easier. Also, the graphics display a beautiful style which works well with the grotesque-yet comedic-Narrator, that speaks directly to you.

It may be hard to play at first, because the controls are not explained. Once you've completed the game with a character, there is no point in replaying the game, unless to complete it with another character. There also have been times where I've experienced some very VERY minor glitches with characters getting stuck... Although these minor factors did not take away from my enjoyment of the game.

All in all, this game is very unique and was enjoyed thoroughly in its entirety.

Great fun

I have been a fan of adventure and puzzle games like this one, since the days of Infocom and text-only games. This game is as enjoyable, or more, than many classics I have played int he past, such as Zork or Myst, although the puzzles are much simpler. The controls are super-easy, so I don’t understand why people complain about them. You just use a few keys to control almost everything: Numbers 1-2-3 to select a character, arrows to move it, space bar to jump, c to grab/release objects or let go when you are hanging form a rope or an edge, e to engage with or activate an object, and q to invoke the powers of the character you are controlling. That’s it. The only thing I don’t know how to do with the mouse is make a character push/pull a movable object. You can use the mouse to move as well, but I don’t like it.

The graphics and music are great, and the narration is very funny. My girlfriend and I are having a great time playing this game together.

Good game. Not very replayable. Now with achievements.

It's a good game, with a story that deals with the darkness in all our hearts taken to comical extremes. The Cave is one more NPC, and it likes to break the fourth wall with some funny lines about the main characters current situation.

I like the fact that you have to pick a party of 3, and that the main characters have different abilities to solve puzzles, but this actually makes no difference in the game, since the only abilities you actually need are the ones limited to each character's personal stages. Unlike the original Maniac Mansion... Once figured out, the puzzles are the same no matter which characters are in your party.

It now supports achievements, which although I think they're pretty pointless, seeing the consoles have them, they're nice to have as well.
