Description
Enjoy a quick and easy way to take screenshots from your menu bar. Just click the camera menu bar icon and choose one of the four options:
1. Window to File- after selecting this option move the mouse over a window (it highlights) and click for a screenshot of the window including a beautiful drop shadow. It doesn't matter if the window is obscured or partially off screen.
2. Area to File - draw a box for the area to be screenshot.
3. Window to Clipboard
4. Area to Clipboard
After selecting an option, you can also press the space bar to switch between rectangle and window capture modes. You can also press esc to cancel.
With the two File options the screenshot will be captured to a high quality PNG, saved and automatically opened in Preview, from Preview you can copy it, save it or use the share button to email it, simple as that!
With the two Clipboard options the screenshot will be captured to the clipboard and can be pasted into any application you like.

Very simple
Great simple interface but needs a few improvements IMO:
- automatically save to a predefined location without having to hit 'save' each time
- open in preview even for the clipboard option so I can select a "x to clipboard" option, do some markup and then use the screenshot without saving it
Now works with Sierra!
Thank you so much, Malcolm, for updating this app for use on Sierra. I have been MISSING it very badly! When it didn’t work after updating to Sierra, I look in vain for another app that has this one’s functionality and ease of use, and didn’t find anything that i liked as much. I saw today’s update and immediately installed it and, voila!, everything’s great again. I’m so happy…I use this all the time. Many thanks again for the great work! 5 Smiles.
Rare Mac app.
We are seven person design group. Screenshot Menu is one of those rare Mac apps that makes it to the menu bar and is used constantly. This is a must have for anyone that uses screenshots.
Over the years we have tried several but Screenshot Menu is the easiest, most logical and allows for quick labeling of each shot. Our one question was answered and solved in less than an hour.
Good app, good people.
