Love Songs

There are plenty of Bee Gees collections that chronicle different parts of the band's career, but this one has its own slant. While The Bee Gees' canon contains more than love songs, a huge number of the Gibb brothers' many hits have had a romantic bent. Focusing strictly on that theme lets Love Songs follow an intriguing path. Granted, any Bee Gees anthology worth its salt would contain the trio's soulful '60s ballad "To Love Somebody" and their devotional disco-era groover "More Than a Woman." But besides such automatic inclusions, Love Songs features relative esoterica like "Closer Than Close" and "I Could Not Love You More" from 1997's Still Waters, and "Wedding Day" from the Gibbs' final album, This Is Where I Came In. We also get the group's own versions of hits they penned for others, like Samantha Sang's career-defining "Emotion" and the Dionne Warwick smash "Heartbreaker." Adding Robin Gibb's infectious 1983 solo single "Juliet" for good measure, Love Songs speaks to casual fans and aficionados equally well.
