call your energy back to yourself: a guided meditation for these times

message of support from dana in these complex times:

"this is a simple guided meditation/visualization that i've used for years in my own energetic practices, with clients to support their presence, and i'm honored to share this with you. use when you're feeling scattered, overwhelmed, spread-thin, depleted, uncertain, dissociated, or any other time of day you need a dose of slowdown medicine to ground, realign, and reenergize. this one small practice that will support each of us in embracing AND SHAPING our changing world."

    slowdown medicine

    slowdown medicine

in this last episode of season 1, meet the love of dana's life. no, not her husband (sorry, ray ray). and not baby honey biscuits the cat (like she cares). but slowdown medicine, the entity that chose her so many years ago and continues to radically guide her (and now you) through our world saturated with urgency, pathologizing, and unhinged hustling. gather 'round! and hear the tale of how a UTI transformed our dear dana's life, slowed her the eff down, and introduced a more resonant, compassionate, and awe-filled existence. and you can have this, too.

can the entirety of slowdown medicine be contained in one episode? ABSOLUTELY NOT. could another 100 episodes be dedicated to this? FRIGGIN YES. is crying in my jacuzzi steeped in slowdown medicine, so we'll always be diving in deeper? 1000%

**warning: this episode is a spell. you may experience a desire to slow down, reclaim your attention, and get a little (or a lot) weirder.**

celebrate everything if you want to enjoy anything

celebrate everything if you want to enjoy anything

in this episode, infused with the sweetness of desire, abundance, and huzzah!, we're going to dig into CELEBRATION AS THE SERIOUS FRIGGIN' BUSINESS THAT IT IS.

in our dominant (westernized) culture, CELEBRATION gets a bad/twisty wrap. it's the thing that you have to hold out for, only do on very special occasions, only do at the end of a journey, and only have if you've won or achieved the intended goal. this model is full of withholding, scarcity, and longing. it's also not encouraging of true, deep, and sustained joy.

so let's look at why we gotta honor our journeys along the way, how a whole social justice movement really lost the plot, and what we can do to infuse our lives with more appreciation and joy along the way.

context warning: dana does not believe that joy is at the highest end of the emotional spectrum and should be prioritized above other feelings...this is just an episode on CELEBRATION, and joy is a key part of that.

desire is hiding in your discomfort zone (the call's coming from inside the house!)

desire is hiding in your discomfort zone (the call's coming from inside the house!)

humans have never been very good at uncertainty — the impermanence of existence is uncomfortable for us. so while we can't actually do anything about the groundless nature of reality we've learned to do some things about the discomfort. namely avoid, conflate comfort with safety and a bevy of other ineffectual approaches to living in the world! there are costs too — creativity, vision, curiosity, acceptance, and DESIRE.

so climb into bed with dana (her makeshift recording studio) and get cozy and uncomfortable as you dive into how she upended her marriage, questioned her reality and identity, and then found her way closer and closer to her deep desires...which is how CRYING IN MY JACUZZI was born!

what to do when change sits on your face and proposes marriage

as a rebellious girl-child of the '80s, dana had zero dreams of marriage. and yet, a surprise(ish) marriage proposal from her long-time no-marriage sweetheart became a portal of profound transformation in her relationship with herself, to change — oh, and him too.  we live in a relational world, we change each other all the time! in this ep we explore discomfort, clinging to identities, getting in our own way of change, and how to be PRESENT with the ever-changing nature of reality.

so WDYD when change sits on your face and proposes marriage? let's go find out!

++ we wrap our time together with some big guiding questions to help you relate to change, as well as a quickie guided meditation to let it land in your body.

Absolutely brilliant podcast—look forward to hearing more in season 2.

I love this gal!

Dana is so unabashedly herself, and her ability to face and embrace the muck that comes from being a human in these bonker times is nothing short of courageous. As someone with an overwhelming inner critic, I find Dana’s fearless honesty and messages of self-compassion inspiring and fresh, especially as she breaks the rules and gets quirky with weighty topics that are often too delicately handled. Thank you Dana, you are a gift!
