    In the final episode of the series, Sadie chats with co-founder of the incredible Swim Dem Crew - Nathaniel Cole.

    Nathaniel is mixed race; with his Mother being from Trinidad & Tobago and his Father from Jamaica. He was brought up in East London and has swam since he was a child. Career-wise, Nathaniel is a multi-talented individual. He’s a writer, researcher, DJ, workshop facilitator and of course a swimming teacher.

    The motivation behind all of Nathaniel’s work is community and self-improvement. He wants to help people help themselves, so empowering others to learn to swim came naturally.

    Sadie and Nathaniel chat all about Swim Dem Crew, how Black male swimmers are a minority within a minority and they also share top tips for breathing when swimming.

    In this episode Sadie Clayton chats with innovative chef Victor Okunowo.

    Victor was born in Nigeria and grew up in London, where he has worked in numerous top restaurants and more recently co-founded exclusive Neo-African supper club Ayo Collective.

    His CV is impressive, to say the least. He has previously worked at London favourites Chiltern Firehouse, The Wolseley and Talking Drum. He was also a semi-finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals 2020.

    Sadie and Victor discuss representation, racial stereotypes and Victor’s love for the humble onion. Rustler Burgers are also honourably mentioned.
    Victor approaches swimming through the eyes of a chef; he has an appreciation for the water which is intricate, passionate and curious. He chats with Sadie about sensory-depravation tanks, his swimming journey and so much more.

    Sadie Clayton chats with swimmer Alice Dearing, the first Black woman to represent team GB at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

    Alice is dual heritage – she is half Ghanaian, half English and was raised in multi-cultural Birmingham. She chats with Sadie about her early years and her journey to becoming a professional swimmer.

    This episode touches on so many topics; the abolishment of pre-enslaved African swimming skills, the historical stigma around Black swimmers and the segregation that used to occur in swimming pools.
    Sadie and Alice explore how these themes have led to 80% of Black children in the UK not being able to swim in the present day and what can be done to tackle this statistic. This leads on to Alice’s non-profit organisation ‘Black Swimming Association’ which aims to diversify the UK’s aquatic sector.
