Working in Long Term Care as a Nurse
Before working in the hospital and home care, I was a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) working in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) on their rehab unit. My time in Long Term Care made me have so much respect and appreciation for all the staff- from nurses to CNAs to housekeepers! I learned so much from the amazing nurses I worked with and it helped make me into the nurse I am today. This episode I'm sharing what a typical day looked like along with the good and the bad of long term care.

Freedom House Ambulance Service- History of Medicine
Today we are discussing the history of pre-hospital medicine and how it came to be. The Freedom House Ambulance Service was the first formal paramedic program and Emergency Medical Services in the United States. Staffed by Black men and women from Pittsburgh's poorest neighborhood, these paramedics paved the way to save countless lives.
My apologies for the occasional background noise in the episode. I'm trying out a new mic and I need to work on the background noise cancelation (or maybe not record around my dog, lol)

Men's Mental Health Month
CW: Suicide
June is Men's Mental Health Month and today we are discussing this very important topic! Thanks to society, culture, and more- men may have a hard time seeking mental health treatment, expressing emotions, etc. One of the ways to lead to better mental healthcare for men is by having the hard conversations and creating safe and open spaces for me to share their experiences.

Happy CNA Week! Plus Bonus: Should I work as a CNA before I am a nurse?
On today's episode- I am sending alllll the love and appreciation to the backbone of healthcare- the CNAs! Sharing stories and my appreciation for how amazing CNAs have been throughout my nursing career.
In the second part of the episode- I am sharing my thoughts and personal experience with a question I hear all the time- should I be a CNA before I become a nurse? While I don't believe anything is black and white- I do have a pretty strong opinion on this and I will share why!
As always, if you are a CNA, nursing student or nurse looking for support and mentorship- send me a DM on Instagram or via the website! I would love to chat and see how I can support you!
