Episode 4 Part I: From Despair to Hope a Conversation about Youth & Suicide

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month —a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized and often taboo topic.  No one is exempt from suicide, and it is the second leading cause of death among youth ages 15-24. Approximately one out of every 15 high school students reports attempting suicide each year. We must shine a light on a topic that is often kept in the dark.  Our guest therapist Amy R Miller brings a rich set of tools to help address this sensitive topic. She has a passion for working with teenagers, women, and families that have been affected by trauma. Amy's philosophy is it is good in everyone. Sometimes we all need a little help to bring the good to the surface. Amy is certified to provide relationship trauma repair (RTR) and trauma-informed services. Join us as we provide models to assist our young people and their families move from despair to hope.

Recovery can only be achieved with a determined hope and belief that "Recovery is Possible. These three words are powerful and filled with the hope of a better tomorrow.  It is these three words that were the driving force that inspired our guest Antoine Roston. It has been over 4 years since he was shot six times with bullets hitting him near his left shoulder area,  in his right jaw, and in the back of his head; it was a miracle that he survived. However, survival wasn't good enough. Antoine was determined that he would move from surviving to thriving and recover to the best of his ability what he had lost. His belief in God, support of a loving family and community and drive to never give up gave him to strength he needed to move from trauma to healing.  We invite you to listen to this inspiring episode of how Antoine went from tragedy to triumph.
