The Wonderment team wanders the globe meeting creative community builders and documenting their work. What are the patterns and practices these brilliant people follow as they investigate life and build communities around shared inquiry and problem solving? How can this kind of creative micro-community building have real impact on problem-solving at a global scale? If we find the patterns and practices, could any of us do what they do? We chat with a new wonderer and investigate these questions each week on Wonderings.

    Jason Nott, Conservation Travel Foundation

    Jason Nott, Conservation Travel Foundation

This week we speak with fellow Wonderer Jason Nott. Born and raised in Namibia to a family of conservationists and guides, he's continuing the tradition, creating experiences for visitors in the deserts of Namibia, observing and supporting the wildlife that has adapted and learned to thrive in this harsh enivornment. These experiences deepen visitors' connection with the earth, the creatures, and each other in a way that lets them see the world in a different way long after their expedition is over. Getting to know Jason and hearing about his perspective and passion helped us look around our world in a little different way, too.

Introducing the CRREAL Community on the Wonderment

Introducing the CRREAL Community on the Wonderment

In the months since our initial conversation with quintessential Wonderer Cathy Babcook, her return to Africa has inspired a new community building project among a group of friends brought together by a shared desire to see new ways to flow resources to support wild nature. Conceived of in the wildest spaces of Namibia, this group was inspired by the resilient wildlife and powerful natural landscape to recognize our collective responsibility to safeguard the earth and her beings, and to amplify and magnify these intentions with other resonant souls around the world.

Mike Osborne: The Graffiti Ninja of Toledo

Mike Osborne: The Graffiti Ninja of Toledo

The city is your canvas: What will you create?

In this Wonderings session, we talk to Mike Osborne, who, from a young age, has been roaming back alleys and jumping into train yards, creating unique art in otherwise forgotten spaces. Now he's taking it to another level, painting large-scale murals in busy public spaces that "cultivate creativity," as he says, spreading a message of solidarity with youth and connection to the natural world. These immersive large-scale works spread the seeds of art-making and expressive connection in all who experience them.

Mike's story and work inspires us to think about new creative ways of seeing and working within the city, creating new, unique spaces for people to come together. If you could create a work of art in your city or neighborhood, what would you do? Find out more about Mike's work and share your experiences in his Wonderment community.

Captain Tim Forderer: Give Kids The Helm

Captain Tim Forderer: Give Kids The Helm

How can you give young people the helm?

In this Wonderings session, we learn how Tim's lifetime of sailing started in one pivotal moment as a kid: when his dad handed him the helm. We want to discuss and explore: how can we hand young people the metaphorical helm? Why does it matter? How do we even do it?

Listen to the session and then consider a time that you've handed the helm to someone (or had it handed to you). What memory stands out most about that experience? Share your experience on the Wonderment Path for this episode HERE.

Cathy Babcook: Pumpkins, Carriages, and Pumpkin Carriages

What "pumpkin" can you find around you right now?

Sometimes the simplest objects or interactions can be noticed in new ways—and reveal new possibilities in ourselves, others and the world. In this Wonderings session with Cathy, we explore new ways to see possibility.

Take a listen, then look around you: where can you find a "pumpkin"? How is it also a golden carriage? Take a video or photo/caption of your experience and share it on the Wonderment Path for this episode HERE.

Amy Jacobs: The Beauty of Going "Boundaryless"

Amy Jacobs: The Beauty of Going "Boundaryless"

Where could a mashup of your worlds show you something new?

Do we really understand boundaries? What happens when we let our worlds collide in ways we might usually keep apart? In this Wonderings session with Amy Jacobs, we explore the potential beauty of going "boundaryless."

Listen to the session and then consider an area in your life you could bring together in a new way with another one. What insights do you gain in thinking about (or doing) it in that new combined way? Share your experience in a video or written piece on the Wonderment Path for this episode, HERE.
