Leaving it All Behind - An epic cross-country bike tour, discovering the unique charm of Tulsa (feat. Jeffrey Tanenhaus)

Leaving it All Behind - An epic cross-country bike tour, discovering the unique charm of Tulsa (feat. Jeffrey Tanenhaus)

I'm excited to introduce you to our guest today, Jeffrey Tanenhaus. Jeffrey has had an incredible journey that started with giving tours on double-decker busses in NYC, working in a busy event planning company, and eventually deciding to leave it all behind and tour the US on a Citibike with nothing but his bike and a few extra items. On his journey, he made a pit stop in Tulsa, and he's here today to share why this city stood out to him among all the cities he passed through. So, sit back, relax, and let's get to know Jeffrey and his exciting story.

    ABOUT JEFFREY:
After biking from NYC to LA on a rental Citi Bike, Jeffrey Tanenhaus moved to a city that seemed furthest behind on the development curve. When the Tulsa transplant lost his full-time job in the pandemic, Jeffrey pivoted to building a tour company that’s now #1 on Tripadvisor. He also opened a tour office filled with vintage Tulsa travel memorabilia in the heart of the Deco District where he sells his travel memoir, West of Wheeling: How I Quit My Job, Broke the Law & Biked to a Better Life.

S2E8 THIS IS Ben VonDrehle of The Root Coworking

    A COWORKING SPACE FOR ALL
My guest today is Ben Von Drehle. Ben is the owner of The Root Coworking. The Root’s mission is to deliver the highest quality workplace experience through community & culture while providing first-class service to its members. WHAT WE DISCUSS
Ben and I discuss growing up in Tulsa, the evolution of downtown Tulsa, and his early entrepreneurial endeavors. We discuss his passion and educational background in sports journalism. He tells how his career started in commercial real estate in Denver, working with companies to help find the perfect office space.  He began gravitating toward the tech and entrepreneurial scene in Denver, fell in love with the concept of coworking, and knew that smaller markets in his hometown of Tulsa, OK lacked these resources. He tells how The Root was born in October of 2019. You’ll also hear him describe what a coworking space is, how The Root is different, and the evolution of The Root’s name. Finally, he shares some of his favorite books and mindfulness tips.
