Let me tell you about my murder

So much of this story opened up my wounds. My daughter was not murdered, but followed the same path, and as a Mother, although it’s over now, it honestly is the hardest path I’ve ever traveled. Drug addiction is something that never leaves them, and the memories never leave us!

Sad story told very well!

Definitely keeps your attention- it’s one you’ll be anxious to hear the rest!

Conflicted (Spoilers)

I feel extremely badly for both Olga and Zoie, I really do, but this show gives me conflicted feelings.

On one hand, I understand this mother trying to navigate a horrific moment in her life. On the other hand, getting up the end and hearing a character paint a story of how a fellow drug addict murdered her only to have the fictionalized mother say her daughter did in fact overdose before having the voiceover admit that the friend who injected zoie never existed made me suddenly wonder how much of this is speculation. Like even in the behind the scenes episode they admit they’re assuming the caustic substance reported on was acid.

And then that they assumed the body was a message from the Mexican drug cartels and stuff because colors on the body match the Mexican flag??? What? That doesn’t make any sense. And now there’s going to be a book and a movie of this woman wildly speculating that Mexicans murdered her daughter with zero evidence to support this. I’m also unsure of how this story is supposed to make people sympathetic to addicts in the first place, one of the supposed goals of this.

At the end of the day this ends up feeling like a weird DARE PSA that makes me wonder what really happened. So if you’re wanting a quick but emotional podcast to listen to them give it a go. It’s extremely short and by the creators own admission was only split up into multiple episodes because of wanting to do well on the algorithm. If you want a definite definite 100% true story? Maybe skip this one.
