Bingeworthy! Start listening now!
I consume a ton of podcasts and this one has quickly become a favorite. I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen in the next episode. By far the best RPG/real play podcast I’ve heard. Love the story arcs, characters, and just everything about this show. Well balanced— there are arcs that keep me on the edge of my seat and are super tense and then there are some lighter hearted/fun episodes along the way. Imaginative, different, well done—all the way around! Oh, and I love the music they choose to weave into the episodes, it always adds to the atmosphere but doesn’t distract.
Promising, but lost me after episode 4.
I'll start with the good stuff: it's delightful to see a group of people so into the story they're telling. The music is great, the story intriguing, and the setting conceptually lush. A lot of the humor lands, especially as the players and GM get more into it. And this next bit comes with a heavy disclaimer that I haven't gotten very far into the show- about halfway through season 1 including the holiday eps. Personally, the jokes about oppression and misogyny make the characters a lot harder to like and do not pair well with the small, all-male cast. Sometimes it just feels like the digs at poorer people and women you'd get from any mid-2000s edgy comedy. As an LGBT listener, I cringe, expecting an attack helicopter joke any minute. If the show has since improved in this regard I'll gladly get back into it, but for now I'm taking a break. This is no condemnation, just food for thought.
