North Murphy High is just a normal high school in a normal town in middle America. Or… it was, right up until the end of the last school year, when, well… Surviving the apocalypse is hard enough, to begin with. So is getting through high school in one piece. Trying to do both at the same time? Ugh. Murphy’s End is a weekly peek into the lives of the last remaining survivors as told through the morning announcements at the local high school. Because between the ongoing food shortage, the roaming packs of mutants, and that one demon who has been hanging out by the water fountain since last June, well, there’s always something important to announce. It’s fine. It’s probably fine. Sigh… it’s going to be a long year. (Go Tomcats!)

North Murphy High is just a normal high school in a normal town in middle America. The students are back for a new school year, but in addition to the regular school activities, they’ve got to figure out a way to survive the apocalypse that started at the end of last year.
Murphy’s End is a weekly peek into the lives of these remaining survivors as told through their morning announcements. Because between the ongoing food shortage, the roaming packs of mutants, and that one demon who has been hanging out by the water fountain since last June, well, there’s always something important to announce.

It’s that time of year again. North Murphy High is gearing up for its long-awaited homecoming football game. There’s just one problem… due to the apocalypse, finding another team to play against has gotten a bit… well…

I completely understand; it’s a bit of an oddball. In a nutshell, we’re in a post-apocalyptic moment - the adults are gone, the children are feral and we follow a group of adolescents who are trying to recraft “normal” in the midst of the most abnormal experience of their lives (yes, the zombies and yes, a field trip to the strip mall can get you killed). Their efforts to re-create order, the ease with which “detention” becomes instantly valuable; it really is quite funny. I also realize that it’s quite retro, so maybe I’m identifying with a particular era (yes, there is a video store in the strip mall). The voice acting is engaging, credible, and given that we hear, at best, four different voices (Go Tomcats!), it is remarkable that you do feel pulled into a richly populated world. I completely get that this isn’t for everyone, but for a leisurely bit of play, it is worth a listen.
Loving this
This is a low key humorous podcast with a quietly building storyline. I really enjoy it. The voice actors sound age appropriate as well.
