30: Arts in Ord Series- The Wildwoods

30: Arts in Ord Series- The Wildwoods

If you've listed to any previous episodes of this podcast, you know you know a major topics is the arts, specifically the arts in Nebraska.  I love asking Nebraska based artists why they chose to stay instead of leaving for a major metropolitan area.  The truth is, Nebraska isn’t just a great place for artists to call home, it breeds artistry.  The "slower pace" adjective we all use to boast about our beloved state, is what allows creatives to recharge and re-energize their talents.  The organic formation of Lincoln based band, The Wildwoods, is proof of that.  In today’s episode, I’m joined by Noah, a founding member and 1/3 of the folk-Americana trio The Wildwoods.  Listen along as we hear more about this incredible band, how they got their start, and most importantly, about their upcoming show at The Golden Husk for their Valentine’s Day event on February 10th.

29: Arts in Ord Series: A Christmas Carol

29: Arts in Ord Series: A Christmas Carol

Community theater isn’t something you usually think of as an essential piece to rural living, but in reality it is.  The ability to join arm and arm with friends, neighbors and even strangers to create a community theater production is what sets communities like Valley County apart from the rest.  It allows residents to fill their cups with acting, singing, dancing, and most importantly, time with other likeminded individuals.  It also allows non-artistic community members to enjoy an evening watching the kid who bags their groceries or the neighboring farmer showcase their talents.  With the right cast, production and venue, it can even elicit emotions we weren’t prepared to feel.

For this episode, Jesse Rosberg and Karen Reynolds, stop by to talk about the upcoming community production of the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, coming to The Golden Husk on December 1-3, 2023.

28: Arts in Ord Series- Philip Daniel

28: Arts in Ord Series- Philip Daniel

The sound of a piano is widely recognized, probably because you hear it more often than you think.  If you listen close enough, you can hear it all around.  In the elevator, while you’re sitting in a waiting room, in your favorite love ballad, in the sound machine you use to sleep or even in your headphones while you study for that big final.  It’s usually calming and relaxing, but can also be ominous and dark.  It’s found in many genres, generates many feelings, and is overall easy listening.
For this episode of the Chamber Connection Podcast, I’m joined by Nebraska based pianist and full-time composer Philip Daniel. Philip and I talk about his journey as an artist in Nebraska, his carefully curated sound, and most importantly, his upcoming show at The Golden Husk on Saturday, November 4th.
