An interesting listen
Pleasant conversation and interesting insights from two film fans with a true love for Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert’s At The Movies. Would recommend.
A Must Listen for Siskel and Ebert Fans
The Siskel and Ebert episodes of this podcast are a must listen for Siskel and Ebert fans My favorite parts are when they discuss the various iterations of Siskel and Ebert, play and discuss clips from the shows, and take a look “behind the scenes” including interviews with those who worked on the shows. I also enjoy their discussions of movies, if they are ones I’ve seen, and the concept of comparing them with what Siskel and Ebert said is interesting. Like Gene and Roger, they clearly get more comfortable doing the shows as the episodes evolve. Given all that, there are a few areas that would help improve the podcast. Some of the discussions could be tighter. At times they tend to meander, and they also go into extraneous detail that isn’t necessary (e.g., I could’ve done without hearing all about Chuck Waggoner’s post Sneak Previews career, and their gushing about getting the Thea Flum interview). At the same time, it is clear that this podcast is a labor of love, and I generally enjoy it and am so glad they are doing it. I also so appreciate that Keri and Skipper are posting many episodes of the Siskel and Ebert shows online, and also their main website for this show has good information and links. Lastly, as noted by others: the 2020 episodes are about “The Stand”, not Siskel and Ebert and their website has them separate. They really should be posted separately on the podcast platforms.
Hmmm… wait a minute
This podcast was AMAZING. Until they decided to turn it into a ‘The Stand’ only thing. I know you two love Stephen King. BUT….nobody has CBS all acccess Peackock Prime Plus whatever. No one has seen the Stand. No one cares about the Stand. It’s not culturally relevant enough to turn your ENTIRE podcast into a commercial for this thing.
