Blame It On The Train But The Boss Is Already There

Blame It On The Train But The Boss Is Already There

What was it like to work for Prince? It could be Heaven, it could be Hell. He gave people opportunities to succeed and to do jobs that they would not have gotten from anyone else. He changed people’s careers by elevating them to roles they didn’t know they could fulfill. But he could also be a very tough, demanding boss. He could make people cry.

You're In My Blood Like Holy Wine

You're In My Blood Like Holy Wine

What musicians influenced Prince? Who shaped him and his music? The list is long and varied and includes some surprising names. Yeah, you can see the influence of James Brown and Jimi Hendrix, but there’s another musician who’s an even more powerful influence, someone who seems like Prince’s cultural father.

Enjoyed

Really appreciate all the research and stories of how much he changed the music industry and those who worked with him and got to know him as a regular person.
But the last interview with Jermaine Dupri was painful to get through.. he seemed so clueless about Prince ‘s earlier music and came across as a smug immature overly impressed with himself idiot .

Shallow Part 2

I have to agree with the Shallow reviewer. There were some good segments but for the most part it comes across as a bad episode of VH1’s Behind the Music. Especially the last episode which was more conspiracy / conjecture than fact.

I was really looking forward to this after having exhausted all other Prince related podcasts (which there are far too few of) but if you love Prince, this is not the place for you. Even if you’re a casual fan I’d steer clear as you might come away with a less than true image of his work.
