    Moana Hancock - Within You

    Moana Hancock - Within You

Multi faceted and multi talented human and beyond, Moana Hancock joins me for this episode to share her journey of life thus far.

Exploring living within a cult, perspectives on religion, the reclamation of Whakapapa and how her purpose driven life now leads her to empower other wāhine to carve their path. Exploring the notions that life is almost as much about unlearning as it is learning things, we challenge one another and call each other in on our values and how the events in our lives have lead us to where we are today, emphasising the point that everything you need to be all you desire is already Within You.

Having a personal relationship with Mo' was always going to make this one deep and also meant it had the potential to turn on me and have Mo' ask me a lot of deep stuff too, which we did visit in parts but thankfully I got off pretty lightly here. It's fair to say, there will definitely be a part 2.

    Enjoy :)

Jay Ruka - Crusading against colonisation

Jay Ruka - Crusading against colonisation

It all started with a dream... literally.

Jay Ruka, the new co dean at Taranaki Cathedral Church of St Mary in New Plymouth, joins me on an episode to talk about religion and its relationship to colonisation and the reconciling of those two worlds in the modern day. We explore what it's like growing up within a household run by church leaders and how those influences rippled out into social circles.

Surfing, church, colonisation, family and the churches role in settling Aotearoa as an English colony all play out heavily here. We also get into a very elaborate kōrero about chicken and Jays immersing back into Te Ao Māori.

Before you change, you need to be challenged.
