    Industry-VET engagement: "it's not just about the curriculum"

    In this episode of the podcast Claire is joined by Timmy Theopelus, Vice President Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Axioo - part of the Indonesian technology company PT Tera Data Indonusa.

    Timmy explains why PT Tera Data developed the Axioo Class program which now operates in almost 1,000 vocational colleges in Indonesia and why the program has been recognised by the International Labour Organisation for its effectiveness.

    As Australia considers how to keep Training Packages current and how to foster closer links between industry and VET - there is a lot we can learn from this great Indonesian example of hi-tech collaboration.

He outlines why Scouts have an RTO and how both adult volunteers and young scouts benefit - as well as discussing the work being done (in Australia and internationally) to better recognise non-formal learning.

    For international listeners interested in non-formal learning and/or the Scouts movement - there are a few Australian acronyms/terms used in this episode:
    an RTO is a registered training organisation (ie a technical and vocational education and training provider regulated by government, and delivering a range of certificate and diploma courses specified by industry)a Training Package is the collection of competencies and qualifications industry representatives have told government that their workers need - and these packages are used by RTOs to ensure they deliver the right training content to learnersthe 'TAE Package' is the Training and Assessment training package which specifies the teaching and assessment competencies that educators working in the TVET sector need, andthe National Microcredential Framework details are online: https://www.education.gov.au/national-microcredentials-frameworkIf there's anything I've missed in my explanation of some of the Australian-specific content then please feel free to get in contact.
