    S3E9: Meet Chris (he/him)

With honesty and humility, Chris shares his journey of realization into the past traumas of his parents and how this cycle continued to play out in his own parenting dynamics. Chris shares his awakening that came amidst a parent training curriculum as part of his role overseeing a nonprofit parenting education program. Recognizing finally that he had been parenting through his own traumatic experiences, Chris fought through the shame and guilt to do the hard work of introspection necessary to set boundaries with family and break the cycle of intergenerational trauma.

    S3E8: Meet Alice (she/her)

    S3E8: Meet Alice (she/her)

After leaving her abuser’s home, Alice learned that anger, abuse, and control were not the relationship norm as she’d been raised to believe. After breaking away, she’s focused on school, making a life for herself, and becoming a safe space for her younger sibling. Alice shares how she’s navigating her sense of self at 19 and being allowed to follow her own dreams for the first time as a survivor living outside the control of an abusive caregiver.
After listening to her episode, Alice wanted to remind the audience that she doesn't speak for Hispanic culture as a whole, just her own experience as a Hispanic survivor.

Giving survivors a voice is important

Such a great podcast that gives a voice to real survivors. They’re candid about what happened to them, but, most importantly, they share how they’ve been able to heal.

Also, it takes great listening skills to be an effective host and Emily is so great at hosting. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been turned off by a host because they lack listening skills. So excited she’s a part of this podcast!

Honest and powerful

This is hands down the most powerful podcast I have listened to. Emily is a warrior for survivors and the guests are incredible and transparent. I love the transparency and rawness of this show, I find myself belly laughing and crying around ever turn of each episode. The Q&A episode was so awesome. Thank you for this amazing safe space and allowing survivors to share their stories!
