    215. Grammy Winner On Recovery and Helping Musicians With Brendan Berry

Brendan Berry grew up feeling uncomfortable in his body. Anxiety and suicidal thoughts came early and he found himself in many situations where he felt like an outsider. He excelled in sports, but even that seemed to take him away from his peers as his skills meant he was asked to play at higher levels with older kids. When hazing in sports began, he left the group and began hanging out with the kids who drank and used. He began waking up in the night to drink vodka after his parents went to sleep.

So Grateful

I happened upon this podcast a year ago in search of help on how to navigate and support my son who was just about to complete 30 days of inpatient recovery. I was desperate, I knew he wasn’t ready to come home. I clicked on the courage to change and listened, at the end of the show, Ashley says, reach out to me I will answer… here’s my email. I thought to myself, ya right… but like I said I was desperate. I sent her an email and within the hour she had responded. I was shocked!! I have been listening ever since. I have learned so much about addiction from the many stories and conversations. It has helped me navigate through all the chaos, so I can better support and help my son. It has given me a better understanding of my son and myself. Ashley has been a true light in my life. I am forever grateful for the podcast, and her caring heart.

Absolutely Phenomenal Show

This show is amazing. I have a loved one whose substance abuse has led me to seek learning and healing. Ashley and her producers bring it with topics and the guests and their stores are so incredibly inspiring. Do yourself a favor and work your way through the episodes. You’ll be so glad you did!
