During the creative process of bringing Live At Larry’s together, the team decided to bring to life a character that has experienced the bboy/Hip Hop scene and has views on the scene. Right or wrong Larry’s views would strike a chord with real heads that can differentiate between what is wack and what is dope, and open up a platform for debate. Larry created an environment for people who would come to the UK to perform at his various events and when party time would arrive, he would entertain his guests at his very own bar called “Larry’s Bar “. Larry grew from a made up bar to a show and eventually a character. The Live At Larry’s team use their love of Hip Hop and the players, past, present and future, to take their creative essence to another level.

Dolby D. Original King of London Town

    The Original King!

Dolby D was the figurehead of the Covent Garden movement, during the creation era of UK Hip Hop.

The Sidewalk crew featuring Dolby D, lead the way in skill, performance and battling.

Dolby emerged from the crew and from the Garden as a battle hungry BBoy constantly travelling between the UK and the US and bringing the fire with him every time he returned.

As the Sidewalk Crew matured into the legendary London All Star Breakers, he become the yard stick to measure your skills as a dedicated BBoy. This however would lead to him putting a self inflicted bounty on his own head.

Dolby D’s name rang loud and proud throughout the UK BBoy scene, and to those that know real history & culture it always will.

This interview at Larry’s Bar opens up Dolby’s life experience for the historians of this culture, to have a clearer vision of how things were during those developing years of early UK Hip Hop Culture.

    MC Bionic. Love and Gratitude

    MC Bionic. Love and Gratitude

On Hip Hop’s emergence in London, Bionic made his way through the ranks of other BBoy’s and Hip Hop artists to make his mark on, primarily, the Covent Garden Hip Hop scene with his trade mark Scorpion BBoy move.
Moving from Hip Hop Jams to dancehall reggae sound systems, Bionic familiarized himself with chatting on the mic at dances and gaining new recognition on the dj circuit.
After doing an initial show at Hammersmith Palais with Culture Mark, Bionic was invited by the late great Human Beat Box Sipho, to go on tour with Big Audio Dynamite (Mick Jones, Don Letts, Leo Williams, Greg Roberts and Dan Donovan) and appear on stage alongside Sipho and, the then, Roddy Rok later to be known as Rodney P.

That tour, and subsequent trips to New York, launched the London Posse. Bionic then moved his mic skills on from Hip Hop and on to the jungle scene, under the name Mad Dog, with heavy influence from the late great Stevie Hyper D. Bionic’s lyrical skills has influenced many to recognise that speaking to an audience doesn’t have to be veiled under another speech pattern but your own. MC’s were now finding their own voice not pretending to be other than themselves.

Slammo gets to shoot the gift with this lyrical legend about his beginnings in the Hip Hop culture. From his experiences in the early days of Covent Garden to his present manifestation as an ambassador to positive thinking.
