    WR890: Leaf Rapids

I had a delightful conversation with singer-songwriter Keri Latimer about the new Leaf Rapids LP, which -- if you're listening right when this podcast comes out -- was just released today! Here's our chat about the record and subsequent tour (kicking off tonight, April 19, at Times Change[d]!), Americana/Canadiana, dreamlike songs, terrifying clown paintings, and more…(...and yes, this episode jumped the queue because I wanted it to coincide with the release date)

    WR889: 'Mom's House' interviews pt.II (2017-18)

If you heard episode #886, which came out earlier this month, you know what this is.
It's the second collection of interviews I did for the now-defunct YouTube show 'Mom's House', which was a project by local DIY filmmaking collective Young Media.
This episode features three interviews I conducted as a guest host (plus live performances) for the show, featuring Colour by Numbers -- a band that includes Jared Adams, who was just on the podcast last month for episode #880 and Alex Kozub (episode #542)-- Joe Curtis (who appeared on episode #313), and Jacob Letkeman (#633 as a member of A Topiary) and Chenoa McKelvey (#532 with Smith's Onion).

    WR887: Solhounds

Remember Solhounds? It’s been a minute, but the 'heavy metal grunge' outfit is back this month for their first show in five years or so (April 26 at the West End Cultural Centre). They’ll be playing two sets: one of original music, and the other… heavy versions of music from the Shania Twain songbook. Here's our conversation about the reunion gig, what the future holds, the WHY?!?!? of the whole SolTwain thing, and much more!
Need more Solhounds in your life? Hear earlier incarnations of the band on episode #142 (Aug. 2015) and #249 (Sept. 2017).

    WR886: 'Mom's House' interviews pt. I (2017-18)

    WR886: 'Mom's House' interviews pt. I (2017-18)

I'm not the only one out here interviewing local artists. Beginning in 2017, a group of DIY filmmakers who operated as a collective called Young Media put out a YouTube show called 'Mom's House'.
The short-lived channel featured a bunch of guest hosts, and I was lucky enough to have hosted a total of six episodes. 'Mom's House' is long-defunct, and while the videos are still out there on Young Media's inactive YouTube channel, I thought it would be fun to reintroduce the show to Witchpolice podcast listeners.
This episode features three interviews I conducted (plus live performances) for the show, featuring Northern Lights Drive, Jason G. Eastwood (also heard on the podcast on episode #668), plus Micah Erenberg (#499) with Sophie Stevens (#304).
Stay tuned for a part II, featuring three more artists, to be released in the next couple of weeks.

    WR885: Quinton Blair

The reason Quinton Blair is one of my favourite guests on the podcast is the same reason he’s one of my favourite local songwriters: dude can tell a story.I caught up with Q on the road outside a truck stop somewhere in Alberta. Here's our conversation about his new music, weekend jaunts out west, learning a songbook and a half of country covers through osmosis, pop radio maintaining its stranglehold on country… and much more!
Need more Quinton Blair in your life? Check out his past appearances on episodes #665 (Feb. 2022), #428 (Oct. 2019), #396 (June 2019), #162 (Jan. 2016) and #127 (May 2015)
