    133 - Bill & Ted's Friggin' Badass Voyage, Part 3

    133 - Bill & Ted's Friggin' Badass Voyage, Part 3

Our rebooted Bill & Ted continue on their "voyage" through time, picking up as many historical figures that are roughly analogous to the ones from the original film as they can, eventually making back with all of them to the present day... which is where the script REALLY diverges from the original movie. Haha! Just Kidding! It's almost exactly the same.

    132 - Bill & Ted's Friggin' Badass Voyage, Part 2

Bill and Ted's Friggin' Badass Voyage continues as they begin to collect historical figures in earnest... Adding Eric the Red, Cleopatra and Calamity Jane to their roster...

There's also a bit of a time kerfluffle at the Circle K, where a startling (and kinda dumb) fact about reality is revealed!

    131 - Bill & Ted's Friggin' Badass Voyage, Part 1

    131 - Bill & Ted's Friggin' Badass Voyage, Part 1

Bill and Ted will face the music soon, but in 2007 they almost faced the threat of a reboot! Why the studio felt hat a new generation wanted a Keanu-free Bill & Ted reboot is anyone’s guess, but if you’re curious what was being considered back then, we have you covered!

As much as a reboot of the property was a poor idea, this is a surprisingly smooth read! We don’t agree with everything these writers chose to do, but its a fun read that may-well have been a fun movie if given the chance! After the slog that was “The Star Wars,” this light fare goes down really well and we ended up reading about 30 pages in a single episode, as opposed to only about 20 for our average script! Give it a listen, we think you’ll like it!

    130 - The Star Wars, Part 8

    130 - The Star Wars, Part 8

It’s finally the end of The Star Wars! Have you ever gone to write “Happy Birthday” or something as one line, and you start out with real big letters and you’re feeling good about yourself, and then you get toward the end and realize that you need a lot more room, so the last few letters are small and bunched up? Yeah, that’s this script.

Lucas decided that in the last 20 minutes, he would set up an entirely new threat, move all the plot lines in a whole new direction to address that threat, build up a huge finale, and then wrap everything up in literally half a page.

This script is bad, even for a first-time screenwriter. But keep in mind, George Lucas had already made two feature films by this point!! Anyway, we had to suffer through this, so now you do, too.

    129 - The Star Wars, Part 7

    129 - The Star Wars, Part 7

There is some really unfamiliar stuff happening, but with familiar names! Like giant, slimy (but also hairy) creatures called JAWAS! Also, BERU turns up on YAVIN, but she’s some weird lady that lives in a futuristic tree hut. There are also WOOKIES, but they’re not quite the same, either. But the spider-dog is exactly like you remember it. Oh, wait, there’s no spider dog in Star Wars, that would be insane.

This is the penultimate (we hope) chapter of The Star Wars. Join us as we move inexorably toward what we hope is some sort of conclusion.

    128 - The Star Wars, Part 6

    128 - The Star Wars, Part 6

Strangely enough, with part six we kind of start understand what’s happening in this script! We’re not given new information or anything… It just sort of brute-forced itself in and we were able to see the overall story through the sea of pointless one-line characters that have been distracting us all along.

This episode is mostly a space dogfight, the likes of which Star Wars has come to be known for, but the story doesn’t really move forward all that much and we’re left wondering… are they going to give us a liquid brain payoff before this script is done??

And if you think we’re focusing a little too much on the liquid brain subplot, we can only ask: WHY AREN’T YOU??

Fringe Hollyweird brought to life

Wonderful nerdcore concept (cold reading an unproduced genre screenplay) executed with loving enthusiasm by host Shawn and company. These guys have nice chemistry together and great comic instincts, so the riffing is terrific. They’re also good voice actors, so the script reading alone is pretty entertaining! As a fan of genre movies, it’s also fun (and sometimes mind blowing) to learn the incredible talent behind some of these scripts! Subbed!

Great podcast!!

Seriously, so much fun!!

It is seriously very poorly done

The concept is great: Read bad/unmade film scripts in a table read format. This would be amazing if the people doing it had a modicum of talent, wit, or just were slightly entertaining even.
Do not get me wrong... it is fun to listen to the lines of the terrible James Cameron script. I powered through several episodes, giving these guys a chance because I love the concept so much. But it is just not good.
The main host (Shawn or Sean?) has a voice *not* for radio, so to speak. It is hard to listen to, especially with how pompous, and irritable he is toward others (mostly the co-host Patrick). He is constantly going between giving orders, ridiculing people, and screeching in his high tone voice at times...
One of the main points of this podcast is to insult the script (assuming its a bad one). But his jabs are subpar at best, and he seems to be lost for words quite often on a rant. It is basically a series of someone trying to make a point, but forgetting halfway through and just ending with a "ya know what i mean?".
Patrick has a perfect voice for the medium. It is easy to listen to, and smooth. Yet Patrick is often belching into the microphone, snorting, and breathing heavily. They both can be expected to make slurping, and other wet mouth sounds which normally are a major NO in radio-like formats.
To make matters worse, they often make racial jokes. Two (middle aged?) white men that believe they have the proper "cred" to make racial jokes when they absolutely hold no cred at all. They also have a love for gay jokes. It is as if they are two 12 year olds that were granted a wish to be "Big" but decided to squander the gift with a poorly made podcast.
It continues to get worse. They are awful at reading scripts. Sean, who rarely misses a chance to insult Patrick, will attack Patrick for his poor direction reading... yet Sean is as terrible as he is. Sean is awful at voicing characters as well. Patrick actually has interesting voices, and inflections that make the characters sound entertaining. Sean has 0 ability in this regard, yet treats Patrick as if he were the "dumb sidekick".
They seem to have known each other since High School or before. It seems this is how their relationship has always been, and Patrick has resigned to the fact. Patrick apparently quit the show, and maybe it is just a schedule conflict of some sort, but honestly I would not be surprised if he quit because this Sean person is a complete jerk, whose eye-roll inducing terrible sense of humor, and lack of wit, knows no bounds.
Just to be clear... I wanted to like this. I listened to many, many episodes, and when I first listened, I did like it more. But the more I listen, the more insulting it is.
