About Loud

Montreal rapper Loud helped put Quebec’s hip-hop scene on the map with candid “franglais” rhymes that blend French and English. His debut project won Francophone Album of the Year at the 2019 Juno Awards. • Loud began to take rapping seriously when he was 14, after participating in WordUP! rap battles. • He initially created a buzz as part of Loud Lary Ajust, a group featuring Lary—whom he met in high school—and producer Ajust. The trio split up in 2016. • The rapper was initially known as Loud Mouth. He shortened it to just Loud in 2012. • In 2017, Loud released the EP New Phone EP and his debut album, Une année record. The LP won Francophone Album of the Year at the 2019 Juno Awards. • Loud got more experimental with the production for his 2019 sophomore effort, Tout ça pour ça, which uses hints of pop to lay the foundation for his contemplative raps. • The artwork for his 2019 album Tout ça pour ça, which translates to “all that for this,” is a screenshot of the infobox from his Wikipedia page.
