‘Orthodoxy’, and also ‘heresy’, was introduced into Christendom not in the 1st century, but early in the 4th, under the leadership of the Roman Emperor Constantine who desired a unified Christianity as a state religion. Before then there was a fairly healthy and free enquiry among Christians with respect to the most profound of Scriptural topics. Has such opened enquiry now returned to the church?

 

The author’s aim is to encourage and stimulate Christians to approach the Bible for themselves, to come to their own conclusions but to be ever aware and respectful of others and their views.
