The Beginning and End of ... The Acts of the Apostles

To many the phrase ‘The Acts of the Apostles’ simply refers to the fifth book of the New Testament. But that book has that title quite simply because it contains ‘The Acts of the Apostles’; i.e. those things which the Apostles taught and did in the years following Christ’s ascension. When we read Luke’s account we find that much of what he recorded deals with two aspects of their work:-

 

Their preaching and teaching;
The miracles they performed.

 

So if this publication deals with the ‘end’ of the Acts of the Apostles, is it going to concentrate on the end of Luke’s account (i.e. Acts 28) or the end of the acts performed by the Apostles (i.e. their miracles)? The answer is both, for we shall find that the two are closely linked.
