The Dagger in the Desk

I love this series. More than anything I have ever read. Sometimes I cry because I’m so heartbroken, that it’s over. I spent all my days thinking about the ending, because it’s so good! And now, there is a TV series coming, It makes me happy, but sometimes I get this jealousy inside of me that it won’t be mine anymore. So, I console myself saying that I will always love this series no matter who else will read it (or watch it.) I would die for the people in this series. Thank you, Mr. Stroud for writing this work of art, but at the same time, sometimes I wish it had never come into my life, and completely skewered it in a different trajectory.

As a devoted fan of the series, I was deeply saddened when it all ended. I found myself going back to the books to reread them and look for things that I might’ve missed the first time I read them. Finding this little known gem gave me the same amazing feeling of being back in my grandparent’s living room reading ‘The Hollow Boy’ late at night. It was such a treat to go back in time and see how far each of these characters have changed as individuals since this book. If you’re looking for something to bring you out of the ‘favorite book series ended’ blues then I highly recommend this one to remind you of the reason you got hooked to the books in the first place: Stroud’s perfect sense of storytelling.
